About the Volunteer Opportunity

Casual Fundraising Volunteers donate their time to help Air Ambulance NI. The role is fully flexible to allow you to fit it around your other commitments.

Whether you can give a few hours a month or a day a year we would really welcome your help and support!

Fundraising events take place all over Northern Ireland, so there is sure to be something close to you!

How you can help:

  • Be the cheery face of Air Ambulance NI at their in store/street collections, holding a bucket or tin and collecting money at fundraising events.
  • Assist with tasks at a fundraising event – for example, registration desk or marshalling.
  • Promote events in your area e.g. through social media or distribution of publicity materials like leaflets to local shops.

There is no minimum, we just ask you to volunteer at a time /event that suits you.

Once your volunteer application form is completed they will arrange for an induction session – either in person or online. This will provide a broad overview of the charity, the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and the casual volunteer role.
Once a volunteer starts volunteering they offer regular training updates on issues affecting the service through monthly emails, Zoom sessions and occasional visits to the airbase. In addition volunteers are offered appropriate individual support as required.

About the Organisation

The charity Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for Northern Ireland. The service brings urgent medical assistance to anywhere in the province, operating seven days a week for 12 hours per day. It can get to anywhere in Northern Ireland in approximately twenty-five minutes.

The HEMS team attend patients who are seriously ill or injured, bringing emergency pre-hospital care direct to the casualty with the aim of saving lives, brains and limbs. Air Ambulance NI needs to raise £2million each year to maintain this service so public donations are crucial.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the charity. Quite simply, they could not operate their services and continue to save lives without the support of their volunteers. In return they want to provide volunteers with a fulfilling and satisfying experience that comes with a range of benefits including new skills, increased confidence, friendships and the opportunity to make a difference to people in need. Air Ambulance NI are hugely grateful and proud of all their volunteers.

Whether you’re joining us to help raise funds, spread the word in your community, or help at events, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to save lives, brains and limbs.
