About the Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteering at a Service run by NICHS at Moneymore Recreation Centre.
The Service is for Stroke Survivors and is called the Post Rehab Exercise and Education Programme. (click the link for more information on the programme).
PREP is Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke’s physiotherapy led, community based course which helps rebuild people’s lives after stroke, through exercise and education.
It is designed for stroke survivors who have completed the statutory rehabilitation that the health service offers to meet their longer term care needs.
The Weekly Sessions on Thursdays consist of around 8 attendees completing a circuit of exercises overseen by a Physiotherapist, then engaging in an Education Session to help in recovery after stroke.
The Volunteer will work under the guidance of a NICHS Staff Member who is present on each occasion.
The Volunteer role will involve guiding attendees in and out of the building, following attendees as they complete the exercise circuit, helping them to record information on their exercise sheets and helping with refreshments.
Induction, training, uniform, ID Badge and Mileage will be reimbursed for travel to and from the venue.
About the Organisation
Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke’s (NICHS) vision is a healthy Northern Ireland free from chest, heart, and stroke illnesses.
Established in 1946, we work with people of all ages across the country, delivering vital care and prevention services, supporting ground-breaking research and campaigning for change.
Today, as many as 470,000 people in Northern Ireland are living with a chest, heart or stroke condition and we are committed to supporting them.
With almost 90% of our income coming exclusively from public donations we need your help to continue to help thousands of local people and their families rebuild their lives.

Volunteers may be required to complete an Access NI disclosure for some volunteering roles. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a volunteer position.
