About the Volunteer Opportunity
Mid Ulster Talking Newspaper is recruting new volunteer Readers and IT operator based in Cookstown.
This is an opportunity for those who would be able to help in one or more of the following

About the Organisation
The Mid Ulster Talking Newspaper produces a weekly talking newspaper and magazine, called “Soundtrack”, for visually impaired people. Their volunteers digitally record news and articles from local newspapers, the Mid-Ulster Mail, The Mid Ulster Courier and The Tyrone Courier, for the talking newspaper, and for the magazine articles of local interest, short stories, interviews and reminiscences from local people.
When the recordings are completed, they are sent to Ballymena Library where they are copied onto memory sticks which are then distributed to their listeners. They also upload the recording onto the Talking News App for recipients to listen to on a smart phone or Alexa. “Soundtrack” is provided free of charge and a radio and CD player with a USB Port is required.
They would like to recruit a small number of volunteers. They could be adults or young people who would like some work experience for college/university applications or when undertaking awards through school or youth organisations. Ideally, they would like some people on a long-term basis to help with the IT aspect of the production of the talking Newspaper.

Volunteers may be required to complete an Access NI disclosure for some volunteering roles. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a volunteer position.
