About the Volunteer Opportunity

At Speedwell Trust we are always keen to work with volunteers to support us in our work with young people from the local community. Our work focuses on encouraging young people from cross community settings to learn together through shared education, outdoor learning and to provide fun environmental learning opportunities.  Volunteering with us is an ideal opportunity for enthusiastic individuals with a passion for working with young people to develop their experience, enhance their CV and to contribute towards the wellbeing of young people coming out of lockdown. Volunteer positions for our summer scheme are suited only to those aged 16+. Experience of working with primary school aged children is desirable but not essential.  Working with Speedwell on this project would be pending completion of an Access NI enhanced disclosure certification as we work directly with young people and their safety is always our top priority.

Volunteers will assist the Speedwell Staff with indoor and outdoor summer scheme activities such as:  games, setting up before and tidying up after art, indoor and outdoor activities such as painting, ball games and accompanying the facilitator during forest activities with groups of children. You will be supported by Speedwell Staff at all times during your volunteer placement with us.

Summer activities will run at Speedwell Trust, Parkanaur Forest Park, Dungannon,BT70 3AA, volunteers would need to have access to transport to and from the location.

About the Organisation

The Speedwell Trust is a registered charity in Northern Ireland. It was established in 1992 to promote good relations through shared education. It operates from offices in Cookstown and Parkanaur Forest Park.

Our Vision is for one community in Northern Ireland where all children and young people can achieve their full potential; where they can share learning together inspired by nature. They and their families will be resilient, developing the capacity to deal with life’s challenges and respond as caretakers of themselves, each other and the world in which we live.

Volunteers may be required to complete an Access NI disclosure for some volunteering roles.  A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a volunteer position.
