About the Volunteer Opportunity
- Would you like the opportunity to support the work of Mary’s Meals?
They are looking for people who are passionate about ending child hunger and ensuring that every child receives a daily meal in a place of education.
Mary’s Meals have a range of activities that can be done from the comfort of your home, while Covid-19 restrictions are in place. They include: spreading the word about their work on social media, holding screenings of our inspiring videos with family and friends or hosting virtual fundraising events.
If you don’t mind public speaking, they can also train you to give talks virtually to schools, groups and associations or businesses in order to generate support for our cause.
As restrictions change, other key activities may include:
- Sharing their story (in person) with local community organisations, schools, churches, and faith groups.
- Organising fundraising events in your local area – such as coffee mornings, quizzes, and bucket collections.
- Promoting Mary’s Meals’ fundraising campaigns in your community.
- Distributing and displaying promotional materials and placing collection tins.
- Helping to generate support from businesses in your local area.
Their flexible volunteer roles allow you to raise awareness in your own community in whatever way you feel comfortable. All volunteer activities are tailored to suit your different skills and time constraints.
As a Community Volunteer you can contribute as an individual or become part of one of their local groups of passionate volunteers, helping to grow their movement by motivating and inspiring people in your local community to support their work. Mary’s Meals currently have 10 volunteer groups across N.I but they need your help to spread the message in your local area.
This is a great opportunity to enhance your communication and/or event management skills, while also making a huge impact on the lives of some of the world’s poorest children.
About the Organisation
Mary’s Meals is a simple idea that works. They provide chronically hungry children in some of the world’s poorest countries with a daily meal in their place of education. This meets their immediate need for food but also gives them hope of a brighter future. Mary’s Meals are currently feeding over 1.8 million children a daily nutritious meal in their place of education across 19 different countries.
