Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre have secure funding to run a 4-year programme through the Community Lottery Fund and we are seeking to recruit a Project Leader who will contribute to developing and delivering safe and effective programmes for the Mid-Ulster Volunteer Centre at InVOLve House, Magherafelt.

You will support funding applications or other fundraising activities to sustain the project’s longevity.

You will have a flexible approach to your responsibility and you will adapt the project as appropriate to suit the needs of the project and the end user.

General Duties

  • Develop promotional material to raise awareness and support for the Never too Old Project.
  • Organise social and educational activities for older people, their careers, and their families.
  • Manage internal project budget and manage monthly monitoring/verification and reporting to General Manager.
  • Contribute to an effective income generation approach leading to a broader funding base for the work of the Volunteer Centre.
  • Establish a range of innovative social economy activities for future sustainability.
  • Identify tender and grant opportunities and assist in submitting tenders and funding applications for the provision of services.
  • Build relationships with referral agencies and key stakeholders including local Councils, Health Professionals, Community pharmacies and the Health Trust.
  • Be responsible for the audits and inspections associated with the project as required by National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF); being responsible for all the administrative responsibilities associated with the project for example, monthly/quarterly/annual reports, and all documentation that must be kept and made available for the audit inspection and ensuring any audit recommendations are implemented.
  • Adhering to operational policies and procedures. Organise training where appropriate for staff and volunteers within the project and service users. Liaise with Volunteer Co-Ordinator to develop volunteer roles.
  • Design and implement appropriate systems and processes to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible. Create and implement information management systems (provision of statistics, data for reporting) and provide the General Manager with statistical/ management information at agreed intervals, including section 75 equality statistics.
  • organisational performance and maintain a portfolio of personal development plans.
  • Represent the Volunteer Centre on outside bodies and working groups as deemed appropriate by the General Manager.
  • Work with the Volunteer Centre to create awareness of the issues affecting older people.
  • Develop and organise a variety of training, health and wellbeing workshops.
  • Keep budget accounts using excel and spreadsheets.
  • Facilitate project appraisal and evaluation.
  • Undertake other such duties as management require.
  • Flexible approach to your work and responsibilities as hours of work may vary.
  • Support administration and other requirements of the charity, including but not limited to room hire, hospitality and enquiries.
 

Essential requirements

  • A 3rd Level qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline, for example, Social Care, administration and a minimum of 2 year’s experience working in the community or voluntary sector: or
  • A minimum of 5 years experience of working in the community or voluntary sector
  • Experience working with marginalised individuals/groups in particular adults 60+
  • Ability to monitor a project and work within a budget
  • IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office and setting up and maintaining a database
  • Previous experience in organising training and setting up workshops
  • Working knowledge of Data Protection, Equality and Health and Safety Standards
  • Must have the ability to travel to various locations as and when required
  • Possession of a full driving licence and access to a car for business travel or have the means to fulfil the travel requirements of the post

Project Assistant (25hrs per week)

Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre are seeking to recruit an experienced Project Assistant to join our team and to support our programmes funded by the Community Lottery Fund.

You will contribute to developing and running safe and effective programmes for the Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre at InVOLve House, Magherafelt.

You will support the project leader in developing and delivering key projects aimed at supporting the health and well-being of older people in the community.

General Duties

  • To support the Project Leader in the development of the Never to Old Project.
  • Assist with the daily running of activities including set-up and hospitality duties. This would include coordinating and assisting with the luncheon club and meal preparation and serving.
  • Support users at activities by attending, as necessary.
  • To support the Project Leader in the development of volunteer roles and opportunities by with the recruitment of volunteers to the Never to Old Project.
  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date records including a database of individuals/groups involved in the Never too Old project and attendance at activities, and to support the development of promotional material in relation to this project
  • To assist in the organisation of information events/workshops/training for volunteers/the target group and their carers
  • To support and actively promote the work of the Never too Old project as well as through our website and social media.
  • General administration duties
  • To undertake training and supervision as required.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties which may be required.
  • Follow policy and procedure.
  • Support administration and other requirements for the charity, including but not limited to room hire, hospitality and enquiries
  • Work in other areas of the charity to support flexibility and cross-function awareness
 

Essential requirements


    • Minimum of 4 G.C.S.E or equivalent grade C and above, must include Maths and English
    • IT skills including use of Microsoft Office and Excel Spreadsheets
    • Good working knowledge of the role of the voluntary sector and volunteering
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Able to work on own initiative under minimum supervision
    • Must assist with food preparation and hospitality
    • Ability to prioritise work
    • Must have the ability to travel to various locations as and when required

Support Worker (20hrs per week)
- 6 month post
Location - Cookstown and Magherafelt

Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre are recruiting a Maternity Cover for at least 6 Months, to support Base Co-ordinators.

You will assist with all arrangements for service users, including travel associated with the activity, supervision, activities and day-to-day support, encouraging social inclusion, and confidence and building the self-esteem of the service user.

You will work with the providers to enable them to facilitate the needs of the service user, by carrying out training as required and to offer ongoing support to adults with learning disabilities by creating access to programmes and encouraging continued engagement.

Main Responsiblities

  • To provide ongoing support and guidance to service users, supporting them when they attend their daily activities at the base.
  • To carry out delegated tasks under the direction and/or supervision of the Base Co-ordinator.
  • To accompany service users at the discretion of the Base coordinator.
  • Participate in group and leisure activities ensuring active listening and talking with service users.
  • To report to the base co-ordinator on individual/project progress through verbal and written communication
  • To assist in the day-to-day running of the project including the security and opening and closing of the premises when required.
  • To ensure service users receive appropriate encouragement to develop both their skills and attitudes.
  • Ensure the service users are assisted to participate and integrate fully into local communities.
  • Ensure confidentiality is always maintained.
  • Daily support of adults with learning disabilities.
  • To respect the confidentiality of all information received as a result of the post holder’s duties.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the post.
 

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working with adults with learning disabilities as a paid employee, volunteer or carer
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning disability.
  • Clear verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Ability to work with individuals in a group
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to bring out the best in people regardless of communication needs or physical barriers
  • Ability to think creatively and inspire enthusiasm in others
  • Good time management and organisational skills and an ability to prioritise workload in a crisis
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team in the delivery of a holistic service to service users
  • Willingness to develop skills and undertake such additional training as appropriate.
