About the Volunteer Opportunity

Charis Cancer Care are a registered charity, offering a range of holistic and complementary therapies to individuals affected by cancer, either via diagnosis, a loved ones diagnosis or bereavement.

All of our services are offered free of charge, and we rely heavily on donations from the general public, fundraisers and local businesses to help us continue offering our services across Northern Ireland.

A part of our fundraising efforts is via the countertop moneyboxes, typically placed at till-points in shops and shopping centres. With Covid-19 meaning all other fundraising events were postponed or cancelled, we now rely more than ever on these other smaller fundraising efforts to help us generate the £380k needed to cover operational costs of Charis each year.

We are seeking volunteers to help us manage the monthly collection and donation deposit of these moneyboxes.

There is no set minimum or maximum no. of locations you must look after, and you choose your own time and hours on when suits you best to collect the donations each month.

The volunteer will agree to an area/areas that suits their location to do monthly collection of countertop moneyboxes, and submit via coin counters in Danske bank locations. Volunteer will be responsible for recording and reporting all donations made to the fundraiser. The volunteer will also have the choice to secure new locations for placement of Charis Cancer Care moneyboxes were deemed suitable with the fundraiser.

About the Organisation

We provide a range of holistic and complementary therapies to individuals affected by cancer, supporting men and women affected at every stage of their journey.

We also assist and support the families and supporters of those living with cancer or any family member bereaved by cancer. All of our services are completely free of charge to clients.

Charis Cancer Care works in conjunction with clinical treatments for cancer and our staff offer our clients every form of support that is possible. Our role is to listen and help, in a warm and nurturing environment, with support from experienced professionals and therapists. We have worked with over 8,770 people since we opened almost 10 years ago, with demand increasing from month to month.

Our Charis Care Centre is based overlooking the serene Lough Fea, just outside of Cookstown, Co. Tyrone with a wonderful team of staff and volunteers, who offer our clients every form of support that is possible.
