About the Volunteer Opportunity

As a Volunteer Receptionist, you will be the first port of call for any visitors to InVOLve House. We will rely on you to create a good impression, so above anything else, you’ll need to have a good rapport with many different types of people helping them to feel looked after and at ease.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages
  • Greeting visitors in a welcoming and friendly manner and directing them to the right location
  • Monitoring those entering and exiting the building
  • Keeping the reception area tidy
  • Providing information about InVOLve House, and activities going on in and around the building
  • Providing general clerical and administrative support as required

What you will get out of it

  • Gain Experience
  • Opportunities to meet and work with new people
  • The opportunity to use existing skills and gain new ones

What we expect from you

  • Happy to make a commitment of half a day each week
  • Happy to volunteer within InVOLve House ethos and under the supervision of Volunteer Centre Staff
  • Have a warm, calm, friendly manner that reflects InVOLve House ethos
  • Have a responsible approach to health and safety and monitoring
  • Happy to undertake any training if necessary
  • Feedback any concerns to Volunteer Centre staff
  • Appear appropriately dressed and well presented
  • A positive approach to the work
  • Willingness to undertake an AccessNI Check (a criminal record does not necessarily disqualify someone from volunteering with us)

About the Organisation

Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre is based in Magherafelt within InVOLve House.

InVOLve House is a Mid Ulster based charity dedicated to developing communities and encouraging social involvement.

Their mission is to promote education, training and personal development in order to help individuals enhance their social and personal skills, develop and participate in valued roles in their community and achieve a level of independence.

They want to provide opportunities for social interaction and social inclusion which support, enrich and empower the community. InVOLve aims to do this by collaborating with other organisations to develop programs that promote choice, build confidence, encourage participation and ultimately create a sense of belonging.

In response to the increasing demand for a neutral and inclusive community centre and due to the need for a central base of operations, InVOLve House was founded.

Currently, InVOLve House is used for a number of purposes such as training, workshops and fairs for both private groups and public gatherings.

Volunteers may be required to complete an Access NI disclosure for some volunteering roles.  A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a volunteer position.
